Academic Excellence

Students who join Bodwell in Grade 8 begin with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme, developing strong learning habits, critical thinking skills, and a global perspective.

In Grades 11 and 12, students transition to focused university preparation through British Columbia graduation requirements and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, supported by personalized academic and postsecondary planning with dedicated counsellors. 

Students graduate with the respected BC Dogwood High School Diploma and a strong, well-recognized pathway to their university of choice.

Real World Academies: STEM and Innovative Media

Starting in grade 10, students are invited to apply to one of Bodwell’s Real World Academies. These specialized, small-cohort academic pathways are designed for high quality, hands-on learning, personalized mentorship, and even stronger university-preparation outcomes.

In the STEM Academy, students take courses in Applied Engineering & Design and Computer Science, complete hands-on projects, and compete in math competitions. 

Bodwell’s Innovative Media Academy focuses on courses in digital media production & storytelling, strategic communication & branding, marketing analytics and insight – giving students a competitive edge as marketing and media skills becomes essential across industries.

University and Community Partnerships

Bodwell is the only school outside of Ontario officially included in University of Toronto’s select partnerships list. Similarly, they maintain formal agreements with leading STEM universities, including the University of Waterloo, providing their graduates with enhanced pathways, chances to compete, scholarship opportunities, and in some cases guaranteed admission to select programs. 

Bodwell also partners with University of British Columbia's Geering Up Engineering Outreach to offer STEM programming for the local community. 

Student Life

At Bodwell, students join clubs, athletic teams, boarding activities (which are also available to their day students), community outings, and volunteer in their community. Students are supported to explore their interests and build lifelong friendships outside of the classroom. 

Did you know that each year, Bodwell students collectively contribute over 9,000 volunteer hours to local causes? All these experiences strengthen their high school transcript as they apply to universities.
