TCPS believes in the power of small classes to allow each teacher to provide a rich learning experience. Middle school classes are intentionally capped at 16 students as a philosophical choice, which allows their credentialed teachers to prioritize deep instruction and engagement. Middle schoolers "loop" with their teachers, remaining with the same instructors for all three years, which research shows provides a continuity that helps foster deep trust between students and staff. The middle school years are a vital period of transition. We want children to learn what’s important and grow in confidence during the middle school years. At TCPS, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are the oldest students on campus, they naturally step into roles as leaders and role models for the younger students.
